To celebrate Dom’s 21st birthday, we rented a cottage for a week just outside Ashby-de-la-Zouch.

Teresa, mum and I drove up on the Friday afternoon and picked Dom up from Leicestershire, with Teresa’s dad, Michael and Rachel driving up on the Saturday so that we could all go out for a meal together on the Saturday night - and again on the Sunday lunchtime. While waiting for them to arrive on the Saturday afternoon, Dom and I sneaked off to the Triumph factory in Hinkley for a look round the museum (where we saw the bike used in the film, The Great Escape) and also to look round the factory itself.

During the week, we managed a number of walks, including at Calke Abbey, Keddlestone Hall and around the National Memorial Arboreturm.

At the end the week, Rachel came back up to join us ready for her graduation in Derby - but that is a whole other post.
